Gallery of Chess began with a simple frustration: the most beautiful chess sets in the world are made by independent artisans, yet they're sold as anonymous listings buried in marketplaces — no maker named, no story told, photographed under fluorescent light.

So we built a gallery instead of a store. Every piece is sourced from a craftsperson or workshop we can name, photographed with care, and described honestly. Nothing here is mass-produced. Most of it is made to order, one piece at a time.

About us

Gallery of Chess was founded by a team of four ambitious students with a shared passion for entrepreneurship, craftsmanship, and the game of chess. Its goal is to curate and showcase exceptional chess sets from talented artisans and manufacturers around the world. Our website serves as a gallery and storefront where players, collectors, and enthusiasts can discover chess sets that are works of art.

The makers

Our pieces come from workshops around the world — resin-and-brass chessmen turned in Vietnam, sculptural wood tables joined in Türkiye, hand-burnt Staunton sets carved in India, Baltic amber worked by a family studio in New York. Each maker is credited on the piece they made. When you buy from us, you're supporting them.

Made to order

Because these are handmade, many pieces are produced after you order. That means a little patience — and a piece with no exact twin in the world. Small variations in grain, tone and finish aren't flaws; they're the signature of something made by a person, not a machine.
