Questions, answered.
Everything you might want to know before acquiring a piece. Still curious? Just ask.
Are these sets really handmade?
Yes. Every piece in the gallery is made by an independent artisan or workshop — carved, cast, turned or finished by hand. We name the maker on each piece.
How long until I receive my set?
In-stock pieces usually ship within 1–3 business days. Made-to-order sets typically take 1–3 weeks to craft first. Your order confirmation shows the timeline for your specific piece. See Shipping & Returns for detail.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes — worldwide, tracked and insured. Shipping is calculated at checkout. Any import duties are set by your local customs authority and are the recipient's responsibility.
Can I commission a custom set?
Often, yes. Several of our makers accept commissions and personalisation (engraving, custom sizes, bespoke boards). Tell us what you have in mind via an enquiry and we'll see what's possible.
What exactly is included with a set?
It varies by piece — some are complete sets with board and storage, others are chessmen only. Each product page lists precisely what's included, the materials, and full dimensions.
Why does the piece I want say "Enquire" instead of a price?
A few of our most exclusive or one-of-a-kind pieces are offered by private enquiry rather than instant checkout, so we can confirm availability and details with you directly.
How should I care for my pieces?
Keep wooden and bone pieces out of direct sunlight and away from radiators to avoid drying or fading. Dust with a soft, dry cloth — never water or solvents. Amber and resin pieces wipe clean with a slightly damp cloth.
What payment methods do you accept?
Secure card payments at checkout. For inquiry-only and commissioned pieces, we'll arrange payment with you directly.
